Welcome to the
DONKEY KONG COUNTRY CLUB. (har har, I'm so witty)
This club is for true, honest-to-Kong (sorry) fans of the Donkey Kong Country series (which, yes,
is different from the "Donkey Kong series", in the same way that "Super Mario Bros. series" is somewhat different from the flat out "Mario series", in terms of what characters are covered and what have you), which spans from the 1994 SNES game made by Rare and all games made afterwards that fall into that world and use that bank of characters and concepts. Lost? Sorry.
THE RULES for JOINING:If you wish to join, you must either:
a. Note the club requesting to join.
b. Reply to the current journal entry asking to join.
c. Post a deviant comment asking to join.
If you're really keen on getting in, then
a. is your best bet, since in the other cases you may get swept under the rug by other posts. Once I add you to the member list down there, you can fave the club and, if you put club icons in your journals, put it in there.
Also, this is not a rule but a suggestion: only consider joining if you're a bonafide DKC fan. If the first thought that enters your mind when you hear the words "Donkey Kong Country" are either "I liked the first one, but the second and third weren't that great" or "Oh yeah! I remember playing that game when I was little!", you're not suited for this club. Sorry. Generally, if you like the series enough that you'd be willing to draw fanart of it if you drew fanart, you'll fit in.
THE RULES for SUBMITTING:We don't have favourites in this club, only submissions. If you wish to have something posted in the club (and it must be something substantial - no scraps at the moment, sorry), note me with the URL and I will put it up post-haste. (I try to check the club at least once a week, so you can bet that your submission will go up fairly quickly.) Keep in mind that your artwork must be related to the
Donkey Kong Country series. Artwork based on the Arcade Games or Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (in many ways the Anti-DKC) will not be accepted. If you're submitting Donkey Konga artwork, it MUST involve the characters somehow, and don't expect to win any favours. Also, artwork that includes Mario in anything other than a Cranky Kong-related context will not be accepted.
If you need to know what would constitute a DKC game, see if the game matches these criteria:
1. Stars at least one primary character introduced in a DKC game (Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, etc.)
2. Does not feature Mario in anything more than a slight reference (i.e. not playable, cameo only - DKC2 fits this bill.)
3. Features one or more secondary/enemy characters introduced in a DKC game (if a game calls itself a Donkey Kong game and it doesn't have either Cranky Kong or King K. Rool in it, it's not a DKC game.)
ALSO: please direct any comments or favourites on a piece of art towards the actual person's gallery, assuming they have it submitted there. This club is designed to get more exposure for its members, not for its members to give the club more exposure. If that makes any sense.
DO NOT FAVE OR COMMENT ON CLUB DEVIATIONS - that includes contest submissions and devIDs.

RECENT KONG NEWSDonkey Kong Barrel Blast is now out for the Nintendo Wii. An on-rails racing game using unique drumming controls, it features a massive cast of established (and not-so-established) Donkey Kong characters. Public opinion of the game is divided between Those Who Can't Play It Properly and Those Who Can. I personally recommend picking it up if you have a Wii.
